INTERNATIONAL ARBITRATION

Castineira acts as counsel in ad hoc and institutional arbitration proceedings under all major arbitral rules. Its founder, Eliseo Castineira, also acts regularly as arbitrator in both ad hoc and institutional arbitration proceedings (over 40 cases).

Castineira is active in all types of disputes in many economic sectors (including construction and engineering, M&A, manufacturing, energy and natural resources, pharmaceuticals and telecommunications) throughout the world, having dealt with disputes in Europe, North America, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Castineira has acted in disputes in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and German. It has also dealt with disputes involving states, state-owned entities as well as various Fortune 500 companies.

As counsel, Castineira has obtained on various occasions (i) the full dismissal of claimants’ claims in cases in which it acted for respondents and (ii) 85% or more of the amount claimed in cases in which it represented claimants.

Castineira’s excellence in arbitration has been recognised in several international rankings for both counsel and arbitrator work (Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration, Leaders League, Décideurs Stratégie Finance Droit, The Roster of International Arbitrators).

Moreover, Castineira handles state-court proceedings relating to arbitration matters (actions to set aside awards or enforce them, actions to obtain interim measures).

In addition, Castineira is involved in other types of dispute resolution, including international business litigation before the French courts and alternative dispute resolution (e.g., mediation).

CORPORATE AND COMMERCIAL

Castineira advises on various corporate and commercial matters. In particular, Castineira conducts due diligence exercises, negotiates and drafts share and asset purchase agreements, warranty agreements and shareholder/joint venture agreements (corporate law matters) as well as distribution or agency agreements, supply agreements, service or consultancy agreements and leases (commercial law matters).
